401k contribution limits 2025 - how much can I actually put in?

109

I want to max out my 401k this year. I've heard the limit is $23,500 but there's also catch-up contributions for people over 50. I'm 52. What's my total max contribution? Does the employer match count against the limit? What about the SECURE 2.0 super catch-up at age 60?

Great question. Based on my experience as a RICP® professional, here are the key points to consider regarding your situation. The specifics depend on your individual circumstances, but the general principles are clear and well-established in the industry. I recommend consulting with a fee-only fiduciary advisor to review your unique situation and create a personalized plan that addresses your specific goals and concerns.
