How does a health insurance deductible actually work with copays and coinsurance?
33
I'm embarrassed to admit I don't fully understand how my health insurance works. I have a $3,000 deductible, $30 copays for primary care, and 20% coinsurance after deductible. If I go to the doctor for a regular visit, do I pay $30 or does it go toward my deductible first? When does the coinsurance kick in? Can someone explain using a real example with numbers?
