HSA triple tax advantage explained — is it really the best retirement account?
33
I keep hearing that HSAs are better than 401ks because of the 'triple tax advantage' — tax-deductible contributions, tax-free growth, and tax-free withdrawals for medical expenses. But you need a high-deductible health plan to qualify. I'm 37 and generally healthy. Should I switch to an HDHP just to access an HSA? How much should I contribute? Can I really invest the HSA funds in index funds and let them grow for decades?
