Business interruption insurance — what does it actually cover and how are claims calculated?
17
My restaurant had a kitchen fire and will be closed for 3 months for repairs. I have business interruption insurance. How is the lost income calculated? Is it based on historical revenue? What about ongoing expenses like rent and payroll during the closure? Does it cover the extra expenses of reopening (marketing to bring customers back)? How long after reopening do they continue to pay if sales are slow to recover?
