Roth 401k vs Traditional 401k — which one should I contribute to?
34
My employer just started offering a Roth 401k option alongside the traditional 401k. I'm 32, earning $110k/year. I've always done traditional contributions to reduce my current taxes. But the Roth option means tax-free withdrawals in retirement. How do I decide? If I expect to be in the same or higher tax bracket in retirement, does Roth win? What if I split contributions — say 50% traditional, 50% Roth? Is that just hedging without conviction?
