Medigap Plan G vs Plan N — is the $20/month savings worth the copays?
31
I'm turning 65 and choosing a Medigap plan. Plan G costs $145/month with no copays (just the Part B deductible). Plan N costs $125/month but has up to $20 copay for office visits and $50 for ER visits (waived if admitted). I typically go to the doctor 6 times per year. 6 × $20 = $120/year in copays. The Plan N saves me $240/year in premiums ($20 × 12) minus $120 in copays = $120 net savings. But I'm worried about the 'excess charges' difference. Does Plan N cover Part B excess charges?
