The FIRE movement — realistic or risky for someone who doesn't make a tech salary?
35
I'm a teacher making $65k/year (my wife makes $55k as a nurse) and we save about 25% of our income. All the FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early) content seems aimed at software engineers making $200k+. Is early retirement realistic for normal-income families? We're 34 and have $180k saved. If we keep our 25% savings rate, could we retire at 55? What would our withdrawal rate need to be?
