What happens to my mortgage if my homeowners insurance is cancelled?
24
My homeowners insurance company sent a non-renewal notice citing 'roof condition' after an inspection. They're cancelling my policy in 60 days. I'm working on getting new quotes, but what happens if I can't find coverage before the cancellation date? Will my mortgage company force-place insurance? I've heard force-placed insurance is extremely expensive and provides less coverage. How much time do I have to find coverage before the lender steps in?
